Students and in particular boys like to
express their humorous sense by drawing funniest characters. Therefore,
Adventures in Cartooning is good and informative book to teach students to draw
own cartoons. This book gives many children a hint to imagine and draw their
characters in order to write their own stories. In addition, this book can motivate
them to read more and to become good writers. I would have liked
a little more direct instruction in it, but I think the balance they did go
with will make it more accessible to a wider audience of younger kids; less
intimidating. And you still indirectly absorb a lot about storytelling and
drawing by just reading and enjoying it. In any case, I would give this to any
kid with a penchant for art, doodling, or writing, or who likes comics or
graphic novels, or who has an active imagination, or who doesn't think they have
much imagination- to prove that they do.
